GL.iNet GL-X300B/Collie

The GL.iNet GL-X300B is a powerful, yet easy-to-use 4G LTE Router. To make sure you have a head start and can use it with your Simbase SIM card, this guide will provide all the necessary steps.

Please ensure that you are using the latest router firmware, as older versions have different steps.

Before proceeding with your router setup, make sure you have activated your SIM card on your Simbase dashboard. In case you have not, please do so by referring to our SIM activation guide.

After activating a card, you can begin setting up the router by following the steps below.

Hardware preparation

  1. Make sure your SIM card is registered and enabled in our platform.

  2. Remove SIM card slot out of the router by pushing SIM holder button with included needle.

  3. Insert your Simbase SIM card into the router SIM holder slot and insert the holder slot back into the router.

  4. Connect the correct antennas to the correct plugs (the wires should be labeled).

  5. Insert the power cable into the router and power outlet.

💡 Make sure your SIM card is inserted correctly (chip facing upwards).

Router startup

Upon powering your router, it should take a few minutes for the Wi-Fi network to appear, and then you can connect your PC to it. WiFi name (SSID) starts with GL-X300B. The WiFi password is goodlife

You can also connect to the device via a UTP cable in the LAN port.

  1. After a successful connection to the router, type the following address into your browser address bar: http://192.168.8.1.

  2. Choose your preferred language and set an admin password.

  3. Click 'Manual Setup'.

  4. Click 'More'.

  5. Empty the APN field and enter: simbase.

  6. Optionally, set the MTU value to 1200.

  7. Click 'Apply'.

  8. Your device should now connect successfully.

Remote Access

Optionally, you can enable remote access on your device. Please follow the steps below to configure it.

  1. Make sure you have assigned either a public IP or a private IP from a private network.

  2. Navigate to 192.168.8.1 while being directly connected either to the WiFi or the LAN port and log in.

  3. Click 'Firewall' and navigate to 'Open Ports on Router'.

  4. Enter:

    • Name: HTTP

    • Port: 80

    • Protocol: TCP

    • Status: Enabled

  5. Click 'Add'

  6. Your hardware is now accessible via its public or private IP.

Optionally, you can also enable GL.iNet's GoodCloud platform.

  1. Navigate to 'Applications' -> 'Remote Access'

  2. Enable 'Enabled GoodCloud'

  3. Enable 'Remote Web' and/or 'Remote SSH'.

  4. Select your preferred platform zone

  5. Copy the Device ID

  6. Agree with the Terms & Conditions, and click 'Apply'

  7. Log in to GoodCloud

  8. Navigate to 'Device List' and click '+ Add device'

  9. Paste the copied device ID in the Device ID field

  10. Click the refresh button and select your device.

  11. Give your device a friendly name and click 'Add Device'.

Your device is now connected to GoodCloud.
